Kids Will Plant the "Next" Forest on May 12

Over 100 kids have registered to start planning, planting and protecting the "next" forest in an area ravaged by widfire and the mountain pine beetle.

Volunteers from the following organizations will inspire and guide the young people.

  • Larimer County Tree Farmers
  • Project Learning Tree
  • Society of American Foresters
  • Colorado State Forest Service
  • Colorado Parks and Wildlife
  • U.S. Forest Service
  • Larimer County Emergency Services
  • Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Dept.

U.S. Senator Mark Udall, State Representatives Randy Fischer and John Kefalas, and Larimer County Commissioner Steve Johnson will help plant trees.

There is still time to join them.
Register and find directions at:

www.treefarmer.com/crystal.html

Kids completing all the activities will get a certificate and free seedling, donated by the Colorado State Tree Farm Committee, to continue planting the next forest on their own property.
